Brazilian Girls are not Brazilian

Thanksgiving night I went to a concert to work off the turkey.
The vocalist of the Brazilian Girls (who's French) was dressed in an outfit covered with balloons and her hair covered her eyes - which by watching more of their videos I noticed it to be common (the covering thing, not the hair thing). The sounds and creativity – which for most people would be weirdness – is so unique that it took me back to a concert in Miami where I listed and watched mesmerized with the capability of the human imagination. WARNING – the Múm video gets under my skin…and probably will under yours.

Play them both at the same time and see how well the video and music complement each other.

This boots are meant for walking

Is that how the song goes?
Today is the second day I wear my new high boots, high in heal and in length – up to the knee length. I have noticed that I like them (same as my ruined ones) because I feel strong in them, kind of sexy…ok, really sexy even if I don’t look it. Another thing about them is that they make me walk very straight and therefore look and feel confident....
Ok, thinking about it is not the confidence or the sexiness that I like about them, it’s just the fact that I am a few more inches elevated off the ground. I like to see the necks of others a few seconds faster than I would if I had regular shoes on.

My little brother

So tonight I was at Circuit City, or Best Buy - one of those places with electric stuff - and saw an ipod, and thought about my 16 year-old brother who would probably enjoy it. I texted him and he proceeded to tell me exactly which one he wanted, you know the one that's about $300. Smart of him to tell me that it was the 30 something bites. I told him I would talk with my parents. If I get them in on the gift then I don't have to spend as much.

What I love about him is that he continued writing, and asked what I wanted for Christmas...and how things were with me...and that my (well our) grandparents were visiting (from Mexico) and I should call later. I adore him!!

April's Halloween

Balloon Festival & Wine Tasting minus Balloons

This is how the story goes:

We went west but not to West VA. If I don't drive I have no idea where I land.

There is something about the Fall that no other season can inspire - pictures, and drinking. Ok, the drinking happens all year round, come to think of it in my case so do the pictures.

I was so inspired by the beauty of nature that I started to imagine Jesus coming down from heaven...

Ok, maybe it was the wine!

A little rain prevented the balloons from going up, but the sky did look godly...

I was inspired to have more wine and rest for a bit, and remembered that I was catholic but not religious - so I forgot about the Jesus thing...

Shalini, Jamaica and Sachin joined in the festivities...
Balloon festivals are fun!!

Tights

So these were the clothes that people wore in the past...Interesting!...I'll keep my gay thoughts to myself!
I will tell you that every year in Maryland people go back in time and celebrate the invention of fried pickles and cheesecake on a stick - people were so creative!!

Diwali

The festival of lights celebration at the Anand home allowed us non-Indians (some of us DIFFERENT kind of Indians) to enjoy the food; play dress-up; and practice our acting abilities.

Old Crow Medicine Show

After a couple of years of exposure to bluegrass by my best friend Meg I was able to appreciate it, which is good since other people seem to like it. I went to see this band about a month ago. The best part was watching my date smile and move to the rhythm of the music.

I honestly don't know how you're suppose to dance to it, but I get the feeling that it'd look better if we were all holding an instrument.

Gays are not the issue?!

"We have been inundated in the faith community with bedroom sexual morality issues and not dealing with the broader moral issues of poverty, injustice and of health care."

Drumming to the beat of Mt. Pleasant

La Fiesta de DC estubo compuesta por un colorido de azul y blanco representando más al El Salvador que cualquier otro país latinoamericano. Pero no faltaron las banderas mexicanas, los sonidos africanos, y las converzasiones en lenguas multinacionales.
